Most outbound teams are running three separate strategies and calling it a system.
Email sequence over here. LinkedIn automation over there. A few cold calls sprinkled in when someone feels motivated.
The channels aren't talking to each other. And that's exactly why deals are slipping through.
Here's the thing nobody talks about: the channel doesn't close the deal. The timing of switching channels does.
The mistake most teams make
Your prospect opens your email three times and never replies. Most reps send email 7. Some give up entirely.
But three opens with no reply isn't a dead lead.
That's someone who's curious but not convinced enough to type a response.
So you don't send email 7. You show up on LinkedIn.
Now they see a face behind the name. Different context. Different conversation. You've moved from inbox noise to something that feels intentional.
What a "not right now" actually means
Someone accepts your LinkedIn connect request and replies with "not right now." Most reps stop there.
But think about what just happened.
That person told you they're aware of what you do. They engaged. They responded. That's a warm signal, not a rejection.
A well-timed call two days later is a completely different conversation than a cold dial. You're not starting from zero. You're following up on something they already acknowledged.
The routing framework we use across 160+ GTM systems
- Start with Email (Smartlead / EmailBison) to test intent at scale. Your first job is to find who's paying attention.
- Route to LinkedIn (HeyReach / GojiberryAI) when you see opens without replies. Build familiarity. Put a face to the outreach. Let them see you're a real person with a real point of view.
- Route to Call (Kixie) when you get a soft signal. A reply, an objection, a "not right now." These are buying signals in disguise. Pick up the phone.
How to read prospect behaviour
Every action tells you something. Most teams treat silence as a dead end. We treat it as a routing instruction.
Silence after three opens? Go to LinkedIn.
"Not right now" on LinkedIn? Go to phone.
Bounced email? Fix the data, re-route, or remove.
Nothing in outbound is neutral. Every response, or lack of one, is information.
The bottom line
Save this framework. Map it against what you're running today.
And if you want to talk through how to build this inside your stack, you know where to find us.
We help companies design GTM data flows that combine company discovery, technographics, intent signals, and contact enrichment so targeting becomes far more precise.
Book a call and we’ll map out how this could fit into your current GTM setup.
