The posts that build a founder's audience are the ones where they are visibly thinking, not the ones where they are visibly marketing.
A thought leadership post works because the reader believes they are watching somebody think. A booking link at the bottom retroactively reframes the whole thing as an advert, and the reader adjusts their reading of everything above it.
The default is therefore no ask, and it keeps needing to be re-defended, because adding one always feels like a free improvement.
The instinct when working from a transcript is to clean it up. Cleaning it up is what removes the thing that made it worth posting. The specific odd way somebody phrases an idea is usually the most memorable line in the post, and it is the first casualty of a tidy rewrite.
An argument that unfolds asks the reader to follow it and rewards them at the end. A list of seven points does not build to anything, and it is the format every account uses, which is a second reason to avoid it.
Skills compound. These are the ones we usually install alongside it.
