Repurposing a social post as a newsletter by pasting it in produces something that reads as thin, because the two formats are structured in opposite directions.
A social post is competing for a scroll. It front-loads the strongest line and withholds the payoff to earn the click on more. An email has already been opened by somebody who subscribed, so withholding reads as padding and the strongest line at the very top reads as shouting.
The newsletter therefore opens warmly, gets to the substance early, and takes its time. Pasting a social post in and adding a greeting produces something that does neither.
An awareness send teaches something and asks for nothing. A conversion send makes a case. Both are legitimate and the balance between them across a month is a planning decision, but an individual send has to be one or the other. A newsletter trying to do both teaches nothing and converts nobody.
The booking ask lives at the end, after the value. Readers have been trained by every newsletter they subscribe to that the postscript is where the ask is, and putting it there means the body can be read as what it is rather than as a setup.
Skills compound. These are the ones we usually install alongside it.
